The Mid Lancs AGM takes place on Monday the 20th of May at 7:00pm at St Andrews Church Hall. The AGM is open to each person registered to play in the league. This year there are proposals to switch to the Rally Points scoring system. If this is something you feel strongly about and you want to switch or keep things as they are, then it’s up to you to turn up and vote.
The following options have been proposed:
Rally points to be adopted and introduced in the forthcoming 2019-2020 season, with the match format to remain the same.
Rally points to be adopted and introduced in the forthcoming 2019-2020 season and the match format to be changed as follows.
Same mixed teams and set-up as is currently employed (i.e. three pairs either playing two level doubles and one mixed, or one level doubles and two mixed), but play best of three ends to 21, rally point scoring.
Each pair plays each other – three pairs, three games each, best of nine total games. 9-0, 8-1, 7-2 = max points (3), 6-3, 5-4 = 2 points, 4-5, 3-6 = 1 point, 2-7, 1-8, 0-9 = no points.
Rally points to be adopted and introduced in the 2020-2021 season. Further discussions will take place between the Officers of the League and its members over the course of the next 12 months in order to decide upon the manner in which the move to rally points will impact upon the format of matches and the league’s points system, as well as the knock-on effect on the handicapped cup competitions and tournaments.
Hope you’ve all had a lovely bank holiday weekend. Just a reminder that this year’s AGM will take place at 7:30pm this Wednesday 03 May at St Andrews Badminton Club, Parish Church Hall, Worden Lane, Leyland PR15 3BD. Please note that this is different to the date stated in the handbook.
In readiness for Wednesday’s meeting, please find attached the proposed agenda and the minutes from the last AGM for approval.
As you may have guessed, no rule change proposals have been received. Therefore, whilst the AGM remains open to any person registered to play in the Mid Lancs League, the meeting is likely to resemble an ordinary league meeting.
You will note from the Agenda that one item for discussion is Teams In/Out for next season. Please can I ask that all secretaries give this some thought as any early responses as to possible new teams joining the league and existing teams leaving would assist Paul to consider the league formation in advance of next month’s Fixtures and Handicapping Committee meeting.
Apologies for the delay in sending out this reminder about Monday’s Annual General Meeting.
Now that the Welcome Tavern has undergone its transformation into a Bistro Pub, there’s no longer space amongst all the dining table to have our meeting, and I’ve been struggling to find a replacement venue. However, St Andrews have kindly offered their Church Hall.
So, the AGM will commence at 7:30pm this Monday 13 April at St Andrews Badminton Club, Parish Church Hall, Worden Lane, Leyland PR15 3BD.
In readiness for Monday, please find attached the proposed rule changes received from Cross Feathers Badminton Club and Project 12 Badminton Club, as well as from the Officers of the League. These proposals will be discussed and voted upon.
Please note that anyone who is a registered player with the Mid Lancs League has a right to attend the AGM and vote, so please encourage all your club members who would like to be present to come along as well.
I have also attached the proposed Agenda and the minutes from the last AGM for approval.
Summer club starts this week which effectively means everyone has to pay on Thursday club nights. The rates are £3 for current members and £4 for others, bulk deals are available on request. Start time is 7:30pm.
At the League AGM the rally points proposal was not passed, so business as usual next season.
We are moving club night to Thursday next week, as the league AGM is on Monday. This will be the final club night before summer club starts on the 8th of May. Summer club will be £3 for this seasons members and £4 for visitors.
