At 5-3 up after the levels, MGS had the upper hand, but in the mixed Carlton fought back and levelled the match to set up an 8 all classic. Andy Wiseman & Cath Bagley won the final pair of games for the visitors to win the match and take the 3 points to put both teams on the same points within the drop zone area. Carlton has Cath to thank for the 3 pts, she won her 6 for the LOTM. Cross Feathers threw a spanner in the works of St. Andrews’ runners up hopes! After losing the opening Men’s set, Cross Feathers took the remaining 6 games to be 6-2 up going into the mixed. Andy’s fought back in the mixed & after set 8 the score stood at 9-7 going into the final 2 games. Steve Taylor & Nicki McGrath won the 1st game 9-15, but Andy Rigby & Fay Ormesher won the final game 15-6 to help win the match 10-8 for Cross Feathers. Despite being on the side, Joe Steele was the MOTM for winning 6 and in the final weeks of the season, every match is gonna count for 4 of the top 5 teams!

In division 2, the big clash between Hawks C & MGS C took place at Clayton and the title race has took yet another twist! At 5-3 up after the levels the home side were sitting comfortably 5-3 up, but in the mixed they only managed to win 1 more game as MGS took a firm stranglehold on the match. Andy Finch was once again the hero on the night, he won all of his 6 in the 6-12 victory to pick up the MOTM award & help leave his team a single point behind the leaders with a game in hand. Clitheroe A had a very tight match with Carlton B at home this week and at 8-6 up after the 7th set the home side virtually had the points in the bag, but Carlton took the remaining 4 games to snatch the win from under the noses of their hosts. Dave Boon was the MOTM in this match, he won all his 6 for Carlton & Alison Lever won 6 for Clitheroe but her side lost! MGS D beat Garstang A 16-2 as Martin Hobin & Amanda Hodkinson won all of their 6 games to be the best pair on the night Crusaders A still remain promotion contenders when they took all 4 points off Hawks D at the other end of the table. The statistically best player on the night was Ciara Pender & for that she earned the LOTM on the night. Yet again, within the later stages of the season, Clayton have some tough matches that will either make or break their promotion dream! St. Andrews B thrashed a five sided Springfields B who just need the season to end now! Matt Norris was the MOTM.

In 3, leaders MGS E took on Crusaders B at home and despite winning the match, they failed to take all 4 points to help their title chase hopes. In the 12-6 win John Robinson & Matt Seddon won 5 games each t be the best players on the night. Hawks E managed to take the bonus point in the final set when they were defeated 6-12 at home by Evergreens A. Derek Hilton was once again the best player for Evergreens, as he picked up 5 games.
Flight got beat 2-16 by 2nd place St. Andrews C & the weak link in the Andy’s side was Mark Pallett, he lost the 2 games!  🙂
Penwortham A won…. Yes I said won their match this week when they hosted bottom team Hawks F. Not only did they win the match, they managed to take all the points on offer by winning 13-5. Laura Heaton was LOTM for winning all of her 6 games and the cracking result actually move the team out of the dreaded drop zone for a very long time! Spring C had a tough clash with Clitheroe B this week & at 4 all after the levels, it was all to play for in the mixed. Springs took an early lead in sets 5 & 6, going 8-4 up, but the visitors fought back in the 7th & 8th sets winning all the 4 games on offer to square the match & set up an 8 all classic. Paul Ainger & Lisa Fielding won the opener in the final set for Clitheroe, but Richard Knighton & Linda Settle won the final game of the match to help share the points. Richard & Paul won 5 each.

In 4, Preston College B got thrashed 0-18 at home by Clayton C & the 4 points was a massive boost to help their promotion hunting cause. In the strong Crusaders side, it was Polly Logan who was statistically best on the evening at 3rd Ladies. St. Andrews D took all 4 points at home when they beat Penwortham B, 15-3 to help them claw 6 pts clear of the drop zone. Partners Chris Young & Zoe Watts were the best pair on the evening along with Emma Dean winning all of their 6 games.  Springfields D lost at home to 2nd place Whittle B. Carol Heaton won 5 games in the 7-11 win for the visitors. Evergreens B won their match 15-3 at home to stay top of the shop when they played Preston College A. All 3 Men won 6. Whittle A lost 7-11 at home this week to MGS F who threw themselves into the promotion mix with the 3 points won. It was a crucial match between the 2 sides and the result leapfrogs MGS over Whittle as 3 points now separate 4 teams for the potential runners up spot…. And by saying that I am assuming that Evergreens will march on to lift the shield, but who knows! Jenny Stothard & Pat Jackson both picked up 5 games each to be the best players on the night.

In division 5, Garstang B had a tight match all the way up to set 6 with visitors Brindle. It was all square at 6 all before Brindle won the last 6 games to take the match 6-12. Nick Fish was MOTM on the night for winning all of his 6 games. Project 12 took all 4 points again in a 13-5 max point win over Mythop; J Jackson & J Needham won all of their 6 games. A five sided Whittle D still managed to win their match 11-7 when they hosted Evergreens C; Roger Darling was MOTM. Crusaders E lost to 2nd place Whittle C as the battle heats up in the last few weeks of the promotion chase. The 4 point max win of 2-16 assists Whittle C to flex their muscles in preparation for next week’s big promotion clash against 3rd place Brindle and then the week after that they face Project 12, so it’s all to play for in the next few weeks in this division! St. Andrews E lost at home 7-11 to Crusaders D who remain very much in the promotion race mix within the chasing pack. Cameron Higgins was the MOTM on the night for winning all of his 6 games & assist in gaining 3 vital points
