Division 3 Champions

Congratulations to the 3rd team for taking the division 3 title. They beat MGS E 10-8 in their last fixture of the season,  and the 3 points were just enough to take them to the top of D3. That follows on from the 4th division title last year.

Division 1 Champions

Congratulations to the 1st team for becoming D1 champions. They beat MGS A 12-6 on Wednesday to complete the season unbeaten and finish top of the division.

St Andrews D vs Carlton C

Team : Daz, Graham, Colin, Jane, Jean, Helen

Result : Win 17-1

Definitely an end of season fixture with the opposition turning out with 5 players. The result gets us up to 3rd for now. Helen and Jane were the only players to play 6 games, and both won all 6.

Score Card

Thanks to all the players who have turned out for me this season:

Jane, Janet, Jean, Helen P, Charlotte H, Helen R, Laura, Lucy H, Charlotte S, Katie, Lily, Daz, Graham, Paul W, Sam P and Dave M.

As you can see we have had quite a mixture of players during the season, so it has been a really good club effort to finish as far up Division 5 as we did. Jane and Daz have been our best players through the season, and Janet was going great guns until she had to stop playing just before Christmas. HP gave us a great lift in the New Year and nearly helped us to sneak second place but it was not to be.

The cup was a non-starter as our E-Team done us by 7 points in the first round, and that was after we nicked their best lady. They better win on Thursday or there will be trouble!

Overall an enjoyable season, and I hope everyone who got roped in to play for the D Team enjoyed it as well.

St Andrews D vs Whittle C

Team : Daz, Dave Mell, Colin, Jane, Helen R, Helen P

Result : 16-2

Equalled best result of the season. Dave Mell did well on his 4th team debut, winning his first 2 games and splitting both mixed with Helen Rimmer. The rest of the team picked up 6 games each. Daz,  Jane and Helen kept the opposition down to single figures in each of their games. For some reason the ladies games were the longest of the night, hopefully nobody got RSI..

DOUBLE WIN FOR YOUNGSTERS (and Graham!!)

Last night saw an emphatic double victory for the 5th team (featuring Grandpa Harrison)when we  managed to field two 5th teams to play both a cup game and league match on the same evening. That is a great acheivement in itself. But then to go and destroy the opposition, winning the cup match by over 100 points, and to beat the division leaders in the league, was fantastic!!

All players should be congratulated on a tremndous team effort, not to forget contributions from our experienced sub Graham Harrison and great captaincy from non playing Alex.

Well done to all!

Cup team: Mas Gib, Little Sam, Stu (hit it straight) Grice, Lucy (Eric) Hassell,  Katie(whats the score) Burgess, Lily(silver hot pants) Simmons
