Mid Lancs Final Report

Report From Paul Eastham

In division 1 cross feathers finished off their 1st season in the league with a 13-5 win over Hawks B as Ste Andrews & Hayley Harrison won all of their 6 games to be the best pair on the night and help the team to finish in a good 4th place.
St. Andrews A finished off the last fixture in the division with a 15-3 win over Carlton A to officially seal the runners up spot.

In division 2, MGS C blew away their own D team to lift the division’s shield. The 17-1 win gave Crusaders A no chance of catching them the night after. Lynn Hosegood was statistically the best player on the night in this fixture.
Indeed, the night after, Crusaders travelled to St. Andrews B needing to win 0-18 to tie the Championship with MGS C. If afraid to say it was a bridge too far as they lost 12-6. The strength of Andy’s was too strong as the nerves must have jangled to what they must achieve to have a chance to catch MGS C. Nevertheless Crusaders gain promotion with MGS and should feel very proud of themselves on how they have played all season. Best get some practice in over the summer folks!!!!

Mid Lancs Rearrangement Report

Report From Paul Eastham:

Last week’s MGS A 13-5 win over their own B team was reversed to 8-10 due to an infringement of the rules. This means that MGS A won’t be challenging for the runners up spot after all. L

MGS B signed off their season with a 6-12 loss at home to Cross Feathers; Hayley Harrison &Rach Coar won 6 games each.

A five sided Cross Feathers then travelled to Springfields A and won that match 7-11 to give the hosts their first point of the season. Nevertheless, despite being given 6 games, Springs still managed to get a game off every team in the division over the season and now go back ‘home’ into division 2. Rachel won her 6 games again to be the LOTM.

St. Andrews A became runners up this week with a 16-2 home win over MGS B….. Well done to them again.  🙂

In their 3rd game in a week Cross feathers then hosted MGS A and were 3-5 down after the levels. They then won the first 2 sets of mixed to go 7-5 in front before MGS stuck back in the 7th to square the match. Both games in set 8 were won by the hosts to go into the final set 9-7 up. The opening game in that was won by MGS, but Cross Feathers won the final game to take the match 10-8 and round off a miserable week for MGS A. My hat goes off to Cross Feathers to play 3 matches within a week and win all 3 of them esp the team that was going for the runners up spot. They still have one match to play and if they win that one they will come 4th in the division… a magnificent achievement in their 1st season within the Mid Lancs League. Rachel was once again one of the best players on the evening alongside Fay Ormesher who both won 5 games.

Mid Lancs Week Q

Report from Paul Eastham

In the last week of scheduled fixtures, Division 1’s Champions, David Lloyd blew away already relegated Springfields A in their last match. Tom Monk showed no mercy on the bottom side as he lost only 8 pts in his 6 games to be MOTM.

Hawks B were beaten at home by Carlton A. In the 7-11 win for the visitors, Andrea Neville was the LOTM for her 6 games.

St. Andrews A beat Hawks A 13-5 to keep the pressure on MGS for the elusive Runners up spot.

In a rearranged match, MGS A beat their own B team 13-5 to send them tumbling (not really) back into division 2 again!!

Jenny Rigby was the LOTM on the evening for winning all of her 6 games as her team is still in with a shout of runners up.

Mid Lancs Week Q

Report From Paul Eastham:

Last week in division 1, the 7-11 win at Carlton A for MGS A was changed to a 13-5 win for Carlton due to an infringement of the rules by MGS. This jeopardises MGS’ hopes of a runners up spot but aids Carlton’s bid to avoid the drop.
Hawks A took all 4 points off MGS B with a 13-5 home win which virtually relegates the visitors…. again! Jenny Mullineaux & Rachael Hodgson won 5 games each to be the best players on the night and help keep their team 4th on the tables.
Springs A fell 2-16 at home to MGS A who maintain 2nd place despite the points deduction above. Julien Priestly was statistically the MOTM on the evening as Springs still managed to take games of the big 4! (except 1 match at Andy’s)
St. Andrews A managed to bag the bonus point again from their 2nd match against David Lloyd & up to date are the only team to have taken points off the Champions this season. Mark Tuttle was the MOTM on the evening in the 6-12 win.
