Team: Charlotte S, Lily, Hannah B, Richard, Harry, Robert.
Result: Won 11-7
Another good away win and creditable E team debut for Robert with a 15-1 first game! The men split their sets and the ladies dragged us back to 6-2 after the levels. Games were won by all, including great performances by Hannah and Charlotte (who each got 5 games) and four close games for Harry and Lily finishing the night with a fab 15-13 final game win. A really friendly Evergreens team but “no mercy” next time!
Result: Draw 9 all
Team: Josh Graham Stuart Charlotte Anne Hannah
It was 4 all after the levels – due entirely to the ladies efforts!
However, due to the strength of our ladies it looked like we had a chance to do something in the mixed and so it proved.
We got to 8 all with Graham and Anne to play their No 1 couple who had been well beaten by Josh and Charlotte – so we fancied our chances.
We took the first one but could not make it two – another chance for glory missed.
However a draw away to a team 4th in the league was still a creditable result.
This team could be fighting for promotion next season if the younger members keep improving and the older one can keep going.
Against the top team in the division we knew we were in for a battle.
A 14-4 defeat was no disgrace as only our D team has won more than 4 games in a match against this team so far this
season. It was also good to see that every member of the team contributed to
the 4 games. We were actually only 6 points away from taking another two games off
them in the first men’s doubles. Taking a point off them would have done our D team a real
favour but unfortunately it was not to be.
The E team have quite a few games left to play so lets hope they can climb
the table a little by the end of the season. A good win over nearest rivals
Hawks G in the next match would be a really good start.
I enjoyed being back among the action again.
