Hi Folks, I hope you all enjoyed our summer this year, but Autumn is upon us and that can mean only one thing…..here we go again… the 2018/19 badminton season is here & results/tables can be seen ‘live’ online at http://w.fixtureslive.com/
Thank you all again for all your prompt cards and I will update you when the handbooks are ready for distribution.
Division 1 started with MGS A taking on the current Champions, Cross Feathers and the host went 2-6 up straight away in the levels. A split mixed was followed by Ric Wallbank & Jen Rigby pulling a pair back for a 5-7 score line, but the visitors powered ahead in the remaining 3 sets, winning 5 of the 6 on offer to take a 6-12 win. Jared Matthew & Becky Ashton won the final game to snatch the bonus point. Ste & Fay Andrews both won 5 games each to be the best pair on the evening.
Hawks A beat their own B team 16-2 to shoot joint top of the early table. Michele was stat the best player on the night.
MGS B thrashed their own promoted C team 18-0 to go to top of the shop as Alex Mackie was stat the best player.

The new season is here, and Mid Lancs fixtures and Junior sessions are taking place this week. Unfortunately there are a couple of postponements as the Evergreens Hall is unavailable this week, and that has meant the B and D team fixtures are off.
Monday 17th of September
C Team vs Evergreens B @ Home 7:30pm D3
Wednesday 18th of September
A Team vs Carlton A @ Home 7:30pm D1
Shared Club night 7:30pm until finish
Thursday 19th of September
B Team and D Team vs Evergreens postponed
The Junior badminton session will be restarting on Monday the 17th of September. There will be an hour of badminton and anything else we can think of from 6:30pm to 7:30pm, session rate is £2.
The August Bank holiday is on its way which means we will be switching from Monday Night Summer club to regular Wednesday Night Club Night from next week (29th of August).
The league formation was sent out last time, and the changes mean that there are just 4 divisions and we have a team in each one. The first week of fixtures all look strangely similar as they feature three St Andrews vs Evergeens match ups.
Matches start week beginning the 17th of September.

Message From Paul Eastham:
The fixtures committee met in July to form the league.
As every year, we are always challenged in what we should do and the way forward.
We had a great format last year with the season and a half with great feedback and we wanted to continue with the same format this season but it meant that 2 teams that had gained promotion would not have been allowed to earn their just rewards due to us losing 3 teams ( MGS E, Whittle A, Clayton E) and trying to balance out all the divisions evenly.
Therefore after a lot of deep discussion, we had to take the very harsh decision to drop down to 4 divisions.
We will now revert back to just a full season again as we have 9 teams in divisions 1 & 2 and 10 teams in divisions 3 & 4. (Assuming we have no other teams withdrawing!)
One saviour is that we have a new team in the league, Mythop B.
Having 4 divisions will have implications on the cups and we will seek approval from an EGM at the registration meeting to introduce a new cup competition that will mean that each division will now hold their own handicapped cup.
The EGM & registration meeting will take place at St. Andrews on Monday 10th September at 7.30pm. A reminder will be sent out!
(Preston College B dropped out after Formation meeting so only 9 teams in D4)
The Church Summer Holiday Club will be setting up a stage in the Church Hall on Thursday the 19th of July. That will mean just 2 badminton courts from then until the end of the summer holidays. There will be no Badminton on Monday the 6th of August as the hall be setup for Holiday club during that week.
