Mid Lancs Week P

Report From Paul Eastham

This week in Division 1, Clitheroe A had a tough match against Hawks A in a scrabble for some points. At 3-5 down after the levels, Hawks surged ahead in the mixed to snuff out any hopes of the host’s chances of any points at all. Final score ended up at 5-13 as Hawks took the max points back home with them; Chris Hoyle & Chris Chu both won all of their 6 games.

St. Andrews A thrashed MGS B 17-1, only Rob Metcalfe & Alex Mackie winning the 1 game to setting stopped the complete whitewash. Karolyn Hustler was statistically the best player on the night as Andy’s move up into 3rd place with the 4 points.

David Lloyd’s match was off due to Clayton Crusaders A conceding & have a 1 pt deduction with a £10 fine imposed on them.

Mid Lancs Week O

Report From Paul Eastham

This week in Division 1, Carlton A took a giant leap towards safety when they beat Clitheroe A 11-7.  Phil Price was responsible for most of the damage; he won all his 6 games in 3rd Men’s slot to help bag the pts & earn the MOTM award.

MGS B got beat 3-15 by David Lloyd at home who keep in 3rd place on the tables with the 4 max points; Clarky was stat best.

St. Andrews A remain in 4th place with a 4 point max win over Hawks A. Ash Gibson & Karolyn Hustler were the best players on the night in the No 2 slot. They won all of their 6 games in the 15-3 win.

Cross Feathers extended their lead at the top of the division by 4 points when they thrashed Clayton Crusaders A 18-0; only 4 of those games going into double figures. Statistically, Hayley Harrison was the best player on the evening

The only match to survive in division 2 this week was MGS D verses their own C team. To be fair, the D team who lie in a troublesome spot at the bottom end of the table put up a great fight against the C team who are at the opposite end of the tables in the runners up spot. At 2-6 down after the levels, the D team fought back in the mixed, Martin Hobin & Alison P Truman winning the opening mixed set, but the C team sealed the win by winning the next 4 games. However, it was the D team who spoilt the C team’s victory parade by winning 3 of the 4 remaining games to take a vital bonus point that just might make a difference at the end of the season. Matty Timms was the MOTM on the night for winning all his 6 games.

Mid Lancs Week N

Report From Paul Eastham

In the 1st report of the year, Carlton A fell 2-16 to current joint leaders Cross Feathers who incidentally beat MGS A 16-2 last week to go joint top of the table with their rivals and as we enter the final stages of matches it’s gonna be tight!

Clitheroe A were beaten 7-11 at home by David Lloyd in a match that had 4 conceded games by the visitors that cost them a vital point. Alan Clarkson was the MOTM on the night for winning all of his 6 games.

MGS B failed to get any points again this week when they hosted Hawks A and were beaten 5-13. The best player on the night was Jenny Mullineaux; she won all of her 6 games to be awarded the LOTM & help the team take the max 4 points.

Crusaders A were well beaten 2-16 by MGS A who keep in joint 1st place on the tables. Rebecca Ashton was stat the best.

In division 2, St. Andrews B were beaten at home by 2nd placed team, MGS C, 8-10. At 4 all it was all to play for and the opening mixed set was won by Dan Porter & Danya Lewis-Baron. Two split sets followed (6-8) as Dan & Danya wrapped up the points in the 8th set with Andy’s taking the final set to make the final score 8-10. Dan took 5 games.

Hawks B thrashed Crusaders B 17-1, only Neil A Jones & Rachael Sides stopping the total whitewash by winning the single game. Hawks are on track to return back to division 1 as Caz Grimbaldeston was statistically the best player on the night.

MGS D were beat 8-10 after a thrilling match against Hawks C. The score was level at 4 all after the levels before Martin Hobin & Alison P Truman took a pair in the opening mixed set to go 6-4 up. The 6th set was won by Ian Hunter & Gail Monk to square the match again & then Jason Loffman & Jackie Atherton took the 7th to take Hawks 6-8 ahead. The final 2 sets were split which included Jason & Jackie taking the final game of the match 10-15 to end up winning the tie, 8-10. The result takes Hawks clear from danger, however MGS can still be caught by Clayton who have 2 games in hand. Jackie was LOTM for her 6.

In Division 3, nothing changed in the New Year for Carlton B, they thrashed MGS F 17-1; only Dave Bird & Rees Parry stopping the total whitewash. Andrea Phillips was stat best as Carlton keep a massive 11 point lead at the top.

Garstang A kept in a solid 2nd place on the tables when they whitewashed bottom team Hawks E, 18-0. Elaine Higginson was statistically the best player on the evening, however it looks as though the curtains are beginning to draw on Hawks E! L

Hawks D beat Evergreens B at home 14-4 to leave the opposition still fighting to avoid relegation.

Crusaders C fell 5-13 at home to Clitheroe B who remain in 3rd place with the 4 max points.

In 4, Project 12 delved deeper into relegation trouble when they lost 5-13 at home to Mythop. Linde Settle was responsible for most of the damage, she won all of her 6 games to be crowned LOTM & help Mythop move into pole position at the top.

Penwortham A had a clash with the current leaders of the division, St Andrews C and the hosts got off to a flying start when they went 6-2 up. A split opening mixed set was followed by Alan Turner & Caroline Coxen taking the hosts 9-3 ahead. A split set in the 7th ensured the win for Penwortham, but they marched on to take the match 13-5. Caroline was awarded the LOTM for winning all her 6 games & destroying St. Andrews who didn’t pick up any pts. The result takes both teams onto joint 3rd place on the tables as Mythop took advantage of Andy’s loss & moved into the top slot of the division with a match in hand.

Whittle A were beaten 5-13 at home to Garstang B who with the max 4 points move into 2nd place on the tables and the hero on the night was Andy Smerdon, he won all of his 6 games to be the MOTM on the night & help the team fight for promotion.

In 5, Brindle beat a five sided St Andrews D 13-5 to take max points and move into a healthy 4th spot on the tables.

Clayton Crusaders E drew with a five sided Preston College A to go into joint 2nd on the tables with their opponents. LOTM, Hazel Bradshaw saved Colleges blushes when she won all of her 6 games to help salvage the match & 2 points in the bag.

Preston College B had a tough match after the Xmas break with Penwortham B. At 5-3 up things were looking good for the home side, but a pair in the opening mixed for Penwortham tied the score at 5 all before Neil Duke & Jane Anthony took both games in set 6 to take College 7-5 ahead. Dave Jackson & Maureen Turner took a pair in the 7th set to square the match again & then set 8 was split to set up an 8 all classic in which Dave & Maureen won to take the final match score to 8-10. Maureen was the LOTM on the night for taking all of her 6 games at the crucial stage of the match.

In a rearranged match, Evergreens C hosted Penwortham B. The final score turned out to be 5-13 to catapult Penwortham into pole position on the tables with the maximum 4 point win, which makes the top of the table very interesting indeed!

As you can see from the attached tables, that is a normal full season over!  We still have another half season to go and as you can see from those tables, there is still a lot to play for and I can imagine it going down right down to the wire!!!

Now that the table matrix is now full, I cannot produce ‘my’ tables, as I’ve not figured out a program to do it yet; however the tables are unaffected on fixtures live and for now that will have to do!
