Mid Lancs Week D

Report from Paul Eastham

In Division 1, MGS A took no pity on bottom team Hawks B, they thrashed them 18-0 to go mid table. Statistically it was Pete Fearns who was the best player on the night, although I would like to mention that Rachael Hewitt also won 6 games in only her 2nd match of the season after a 5 year absence & I want to congratulate her on her return to Mid Lancs League.
David Lloyd v MGS B. No card as yet and the home team are fined £10 as per rule 25.
Hawks A got beat 3-15 by St. Andrews A who move into 2nd spot on the tables; Steve Taylor & Nicki McGrath won all their 6.
Cross Feathers remained top when they beat late arrivals Carlton 17-1 & after the warm up games, it’s the biggy next week.

Mid Lancs Week C

Report From Paul Eastham

This record breaking report comes to you at 11pm on a Thu night & a special thanks to Ali Peacock for her swift card to make this as ‘live’ as it can ever get!
In division 1 this week, Carlton A got beat 8-10 in an ever so tight match at home to MGS A. At 4 all, it really was all to play for after the levels, but MGS took a pair in the opening mixed & this turned out to be the deciding set of the match as the remaining 4 sets were all split to send MGS through the winning post in the final game where Tom Lowe & Lynn Hosegood fought hard to win it 11-15 after losing the 1st game 15-12 to Dave Wiseman & Kay Armer. Becky Ashton won 5 games.
Hawks A battled hard at home this week when they hosted Cross Feathers & went into the mixed all square after 2 pairs for either side & 2 split sets in the levels. The opening mixed set was split & then the visitors took a pair in the 6th to go 5-7 in front and this was the critical set, as the final 3 sets were all split to make the final score run out at 8-10. Fay Andrews was the best player on the night; she won 5 games at 3rd Ladies to help the team go to the top of the table as David Lloyd rested. MGS B thrashed Hawks B 18-0 to rise up to 3rd place on the tables with the max 4 point win; Hannah Burgess was stat best. St. Andrew A beat MGS C 17-1 to take all 4 points and leap into 2nd place on the tables; just Rob Oakes & Danya Lewis stopping the total whitewash as Karolyn Hustler was statistically the best player on the evening.

Mid Lancs Report – Week B

Report from Paul Eastham:

This week in Division 1, MGS A battled at home with Cross Feathers in their 1st match of the season & after the visitors close shave at home to Andy’s a few nights ago, the last thing they wanted was another battle to the death! In the end, Cross Feathers romped away with all 4 points as the score ran out at 3-15; Rach Graham was again statistically best on the night.
David Lloyd brushed aside Hawks A with a 17-1 home win; Emily Miller & Michelle Skinner saving the total whitewash by taking the only game won as Darren Whitley was statistically the best player on the evening again.
MGS C still have to wait for their first division 1 point of the season as they were beat 4-14 at home by Carlton A and by contrast, the visitors picked up their first pts. Cath Bagley, Andrew Davis, Andrea Neville & Nikki Wilford all picked up 5 each
St. Andrews bounced from last weeks defeat to beat MGS B 13-5 and earn themselves a max 4 points. Ashley Gibson was the MOTM in this tie in his first season playing for Andy’s having been the sworn enemy for years playing for Grimmy!

Mid Lancs Report – Week A

Report From Paul Eastham:

Here we go again… the 2016/17 season is upon us & a big thank you for the prompt cards yet again via whatsapp & email.
As always, all the fixtures, results and tables can then be seen ‘live’ and online at http://w.fixtureslive.com/

The 1st fixture in division 1 of the new season was Carlton A who took on David Lloyd at home and needless to say the visitors got off to their usual start by thrashing them 0-18 with only 3 games going into double figures. Joanna Holt was statistically the best player on the evening to help get the Champs off to a perfect start.
Hawks A beat their own B team 16-2 as Cathy Atfield was statistically the best player on the night.
MGS B beat their newly promoted C team 14-4 as Tom Lowe & Jared Matthew won all of their 6 games.
Last year’s runner up, Cross Feathers took on St. Andrews A and didn’t quite have the easy ride that they had last year. 2 pairs & 2 split sets in the levels meant that going into the levels all square. Rach Graham & Mike Johnson won the opening mixed set 15-13 & 17-15 to go up 6-4, this was then followed by a split set in the 6th and Andy’s won a pair in the 7th to even the score again at 7 all. The 8th was split again before Rach & Mike stepped on court to win the final pair of games, both to 7 to win the very tight match 10-8…phew! Rach was the LOTM on the evening for taking all her 6 & making the win possible.
