Report From Paul Eastham
The 1st result in division 1 of the new season was a clash between Hawks A & their own B team. The result was no surprise, 15-3, but to see Julian Priestley’s name again… but Julian & his partner, Cathy Atfield won all of their 6 games at 3rd pairing.
MGS B notched up an 11-7 home win over Carlton A as Charlotte Heyes won all of her 6 games to be the LOTM.
Newly promoted Clayton Crusaders A hosted the current reigning Champions, David Lloyd! Any guesses what the score was? Statistically it was Mark Tuttle who was the MOTM on the night for losing a mere 16 points from his 6 games!
St Andrews A had a new season wakeup call when they got beat 5-13 at home by Cross Feathers. They lost all the level’s games before taking their 1st game of the match in the mixed, but a strong Cross Feathers saw them off in the 7th set by winning all 4 points as partners Matt Tolman & Rach Graham took all their 6 games at 3rd to ensure the flying start.
In division 2, Dave Boon & Janice Schofield from Carlton B won the final 2 games to win the match 10-8 to take 3 points in a very tight match against MGS E at home. No overall best player as most players chipped in with 4 games each.

Hawks C hosted the Hillbilly’s in their 1st match of the season and managed to win 12-6, but it was in the very last set were Garstang pull the rabbit out the hat to steal the vital bonus point. Steve Beniston & Karen Pye that crucial game to help the visitors head back home up the M6 with a point in the bag. Richard Llewellyn was the MOTM for taking all his 6 at 3rd Men’s.
MGS D got beat 5-13 by their own C team in which Rob Metcalf & Lee Williams won all of their 6 games.
Springfields A notched up their 1st win in over a year when they beat Clayton Crusaders B 14-4. Top of the table they sit at the mo, as Denzil Wates & Alison P Truman got them off to a flyer in the level’s; taking all of them & winning all of their 6.
In 3, our league secretary, Sam Gorrell & partner Katy Dutton won the final game of the match for Clayton Crusaders C to take the 3 points in their clash against Clitheroe B. In a tight match it was, for a refreshing change, it was Chris Kelly who took the MOTM award home with him for taking all of his 6 games…. I can’t remember the last time that happened! 🙂
Clayton D managed to sneak a point at home when they took the bonus point in the final set while hosting Spring B. In the 6-12 defeat, all of Springfield’s players walked away with 4 games each on the evening to put them in joint 2nd spot.
Evergreens B lost at home to their own A team by a ‘small’ 0-18 margin! ….. so, top of the shop the A team go!
Only one result to report on in division 4 on this opening week, Spring C v Clayton E. Heath Ntabagara & Ester Worthington won all of their 6 games for Crusaders to help sink Springs to the murky waters of the division; final score, 2-16.
In 5, Brindle lost 7-11 at home to Evergreens C despite Nick Fish & Linda Kozera winning 5 games each for the hosts.

In an extremely close match, Whittle D drew at home with their own C team. At 6-2 up, the D team were well in charge going into the mixed, but after the C team won the opener, the D split the 6th set & won both in the 7th to lead 9-5. A brave comeback in the remaining 4 games saw the C team earn a draw & take 2 points each as Ant Houghton won 6 for MOTM.
